RAW Melbourne Artist of the Year - 2014

Hi I'm Christie! I draw, paint and create using water colour and ink for print, stationery, and surface design. I work independently as a freelance commercial illustrator, working on multiple projects and collaborations that range from pattern design to licensed illustration. I am best known for my floral watercolour works, tying illustration with modern calligraphy, and for drawing girls with long braids. I love creating stationery collections with luxurious gold foil, and add polka dots wherever possible!

A little background…

After gaining a Bachelor Degree in Design/Visual Communication at Monash University, I spent the following 6 years working within the stationery industry designing greeting cards, invitations, and gift wrap for varying companies before going off on my own. I now work from my home studio in the lush Dandenong Ranges, finding inspiration from the surrounding forests and gardens. I’m also inspired by the organic forms of Australian flowers, and the grandeur of the art nouveau movement. My personal projects are often inspired by the vintage books and unusual trinkets I’ve collected over the years.
